Battery electrode compounds play a critical role in the performance of lithium-ion batteries, which power our portable electronics and are increasingly being used in electric vehicles. These compounds are the key materials in the battery’s anode and cathode, where electrochemical reactions take place during charging and discharging.

Last week we were at PLAST 2023 in Milan, Italy. The fair was a good opportunity for valuable exchange with potential customers and clients. Again and again, our three focus applications PVC compounds, bioplastics and rubber compounds as well as their recycling were the topic of discussion.

What a great success. Our newest and within the COMPEO series smallest BUSS compounding system, the COMPEO LAB, receives the FOCUS Silver design award alongside nine other industrial products.

The first user, a multinational masterbatch manufacturer, has been producing color masterbatches with the COMPEO 88 since late October 2019. BUSS's technical center had previously optimized the screw configuration for this specific application – a service that is available to any customers with individual applications – so commissioning took just one week.

The second China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai has just ended. This exhibition aims actively to open the Chinese market to the world. Countries and regions all over the world are invited to strengthen international trade and economic globalization. Our BUSS teams in Asia have been busy last week! While we reported live from Chinaplas in Guangzhou last week, we now take a look back on another important tradefair in Asia.

Time passed by so quickly! It has been one full year, since we launched our new compounder generation COMPEO at the NPE in Orlando, Florida.

The world is growing faster and faster, markets are constantly expanding and changing, new technologies are being developed all the time and new companies are emerging everywhere. This process is speeding up more and more.

Last week a group of young, committed people, who successfully completed their apprenticeship at BUSS 50 years ago, visited our headquarters in Pratteln, Switzerland.

It took 1.5 years of research, development, test and trial runs and constant optimization to perfect the machine design of our new compounder generation COMPEO.

BUSS presented the new compounder generation COMPEO for the first time at the NPE in Orlando, USA.

The new COMPEO discharge unit is based on the principle of a conical twin screw, designed to run in a metered method. The entire controlled pressure build-up takes place in the slowly rotating twin screw.

The state-of-the-art compounding technology of COMPEO meets the extremely high requirements of the polymer industry: a wide range of applications, a large operating window, high flexibility and robustness, as well as consistent process stability, but also operational and operator safety, energy efficiency and reduced operating costs.

The optimum material composition for high-voltage power cables is still a major issue. Together with P&M Cable Consulting we have developed an individual solution for a Chinese cable manufacturer.

The opening of our new office in Songjiang, China, was a big event for us.

The fully configurable process zone of COMPEO compounders opens up completely new process engineering possibilities through the application of mixing and kneading elements with two to six rows of screw flights.

BUSS has more than 50 years of experience in calender feeding. This makes the BUSS Kneader technology ideal for all kinds of calendering, from PVC materials to rubber, TPU, PE and PET.

Our new compounding system COMPEO covers the whole spectrum of PVC applications. Thanks to its modular design, the COMPEO series can be precisely configured to meet the specific compounding application.

The BUSS team in Shanghai moved into the new headquarters in Shanghai, China. We are proud to present our Shanghai team to our customers around the world.

In order to optimally meet the specific needs for compounding solutions from high-end customers in the Chinese market, as well as providing enhanced services to customers in China and even the rest of Asia, Buss AG has invested in establishing a legal entity, BUSS Compounding Solutions (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in Shanghai. Mr. Rongbao Gao has assumed the responsibility of the general manager since June 1st, 2018.
